This miniature represents Jan Roman Bytnar, a Polish Scoutmaster, a member of Polish scouting anti-Nazi resistance and a lieutenant in the Home Army during World War II. During the war he was captured and tortured by the Nazis on 23rd March 1942, and although he was rescued 3 days later he would go on to die on the 30th March from injuries sustained during the interrogation carried out while in captivity.
